Greek Yogurt Breakfast Bowl

When mornings are rushed, a yogurt bowl is the fastest way to get real protein instead of a pastry. Plain Greek yogurt brings around 24 grams in a single cup, along with the calcium that matters more with every passing decade for women 45 and older.

This version stays low in added sugar by leaning on berries and cinnamon for sweetness rather than flavored yogurt. It takes five minutes, needs no cooking, and travels well in a jar if you eat breakfast at work.

Ingredients

  • plain nonfat Greek yogurt1 cup (230 g)
  • low-sugar granola1/3 cup (40 g)
  • fresh berries1/2 cup (75 g)
  • almond butter1 tbsp (16 g)
  • hemp seeds (optional)1 tsp (3 g)
  • ground cinnamon1/4 tsp (0.5 g)

Directions

  1. 1

Spoon the Greek yogurt into a bowl and smooth the surface with the back of the spoon.

  2. 2

Arrange the berries and granola in separate sections over the top so the granola stays crunchy.

  3. 3

Dollop the almond butter in the center and add the hemp seeds if using.

  4. 4

Dust with cinnamon and serve immediately.

Tips

  • ✓Read the granola label and pick one with less than 8 g of added sugar per serving—many are closer to candy than cereal.
  • ✓Swap almond butter for peanut butter or tahini if that is what is in the pantry.
  • ✓For even more protein, stir a half scoop of unflavored protein powder into the yogurt before topping.
